Character Name: Mavis Dracula
Canon: Hotel Transylvania
Canon Point: After her scare at the “human” village, before meeting Johnnystein
Background/History: Hi wiki
Previous Game History: N/A
Personality: This is the most important section! There is no specific word count, but anything less than three paragraphs likely isn't detailed enough.
Mavis has the Disney princess “I want more” thing down to a T.
She’s also has “Daddy’s little ghoul” down to a T.
The daughter of Dracula, Mavis is (ironically) a ray of sunshine. Friendly, smart, and eager to learn new things, her pampered life hasn’t had much of a negative effect on her ability to get along with people. Likely due to her father being the owner of the Hotel Transylvania. She wants to get out and see new places, being very naïve about the world due to most of what she knows of it is very out of date.
Mavis is a teenage girl who has never really had friends her own age. The friends she does have are friends of her father, and she only gets to see them a few times a year. She doesn’t begrudge this or even dislikes them at all. In fact she gets along great with all the visitors to the hotel. But doing the same thing year after year with no real changes has made her a little bored with her life. She envies the other monsters because while they see the hotel as a place to get away and be themselves, they at least get to see what’s outside the walls. At the same time, while she wants to get out, she’s afraid of disappointing her father. Mavis loves him dearly and knows that he keeps her close because he’s afraid to lose her. So instead of just turning into a bat and making a break for it, she’s very cooperative in reasoning and bargaining with him.
Because of what happened to her mother, Mavis grew up with her dad feeding her the fear of humans. Without knowing any herself, humans seemed like some horror movie monster that just stopped being scary after awhile. She’s curious about what they’re really like, thinking her dad’s scare tactics are way out of date. That was before her trek out to her first “human” village, which was actually a ploy by her father to hammer in his scare tactics. At the point in canon, she’s really spooked by what happened. She still wants to see the world, but the thought of running into another human terrifies her.
Abilities/Powers:
Mavis is the daughter of Dracula. So all those vampire things from the old movies? Totally applies here.
In the movie she can:
-transform into a bat
-walk on walls
-run at super speed
-fly
-heal at an accelerated rate
Her dad is shown to do a lot more like telekinesis and mind control, but she’s not old enough to do these things yet.
Of course a lot of these powers depends on if she’s fed. Again, she has the whole vampire thing, so yeah she needs to feed on blood. Any blood works, so she’s fine attacking small animals and such. In fact she’s never had human blood before. She also does have the classic vampire weaknesses: i.e. she burns in sunlight, allergic to garlic, and she can be killed by fire or a stake in the heart.
Sample Entry:
[Video clicks on oh okay she gets it. Yeah this is one of those portable phone things she's heard Uncle Griffin talk about right?]
Hello?
[Nothing? Huh, usually when you're on the phone someone answers.]
Helloooo?
[Her lips purse into a pout. Where is everyone anyway?]
Spooky. Actually looks like a real city. Though isn’t there supposed to be a bunch of lights and not so...deserted? [Maybe cities are like this? She really didn't sound to sure of herself.] Okay Dad you can come out now. I get it, I’m not going to leave the hotel, okay? You don’t need to convince me even more. Dad! Uncle Frank? Come on you guys have to be in on this. Uncle Wayne? Uncle Murray? Uncle Griffin?
[Trying to put on a brave face, but it's pretty obvious she's freaking out a little.]
Yeah, yeah, I know this one. The scary humans are going to jump out and get me. Dad I’m not a little ghoul anymore. And you’re terrible at this game.
[The scenery wasn't the part that was freaking her out before, heck it's pretty normal for her. But all this quiet? Slightly hugging her arms, Mavis slowly backs herself into a corner.]
This…this is just a game, right? Dad?
Sample Entry Two:
Flying outside the castle at night was always her favorite thing to do. How much freedom the sky and the night air gave her. The only thing holding her back was her instinct to stay close to the Hotel. Venturing too far out would set off the warning alarm every single time.
So how weird was it for her to feel the same restriction here?
Transformed into the small black bat, Mavis soared through the city, darting back and forth between broken windows and debris. It was fantastic to see something new like this after over a century. But at the same time, her dad was probably worried sick about her right now. t would be so easy to take her time and really explore this place, but that knowledge nagged at the back of her head. It should be hard. Go to the hotel, let dad know she was completely fine, then come back and sight see-
BONK
Rubbing at her head, Mavis noticed there wasn't anything here. What did she run into then? Backing up slightly, the bat flew at ramming speed...into whatever stopped her the first time.
"A wall?" Darting around, come on there had to be a way out. No way she was completely trapped.
